Defensive Stocks, REITS and Trusts Series: City Office Reit, 19 March 2018, Monday, 7.33pm Singapore Time

Defensive Stocks, REITS and Trusts Series:

Attached is the continuation of the Defensive Stocks, REITS and Trusts Series which I had previously covered. Today, we shall cover City Office Reit (NYSE: CIO)-- another defensive equities, reits or trust group of stocks that are expected to wither under the rising rates environment because rising interest rate yields will draw the blood out of these group of stocks. The OBV is glaring red flags for these groups of stocks worldwide. Together with the numerous examples I had covered, City Office Reit is just another classic example. As can be seen from the technicals OBV, the smart monies are never coming back now despite the rebound in Reits' prices. This kind of technicals can only be possible because fools' monies are in, while smart monies are out.

Keynote of DNA:
In rising interest rates environment, defensive stocks, reits and trusts lose their shine. Interest rates close up the gap between interest yields and dividend yields, and cause selling pressure on these kind of asset classes. Other asset classes offered by banks and insurance companies will offer much better shine for the high yields and lower risks in rising rates environment (hence, Banks and Insurance Companies to benefit greatly). Cyclical asset classes are favoured in rising rates environment.

Today, we shall cover Singtel -- another defensive equities, reits or trust group of stocks that are expected to wither under the rising rates environment because rising interest rate yields will draw the blood out of these group of stocks. Worse, the Telco industry runs the threat of continually being cut throat by new technologies. The OBV is glaring red flags too for these groups of stocks worldwide. Singtel is just another classic example. As can be seen from the technicals OBV, the smart monies are never coming back now for Singtel. This $3.49 is never the same anymore. This kind of technicals can be possible only because fools' monies are in, while smart monies are out.

Today, we shall cover AIMSAMP Cap Reit -- another defensive equities, reits or trust group of stocks that are expected to wither under the rising rates environment because rising interest rate yields will draw the blood out of these group of stocks. The OBV and the Force Index are glaring red flags now for these groups of stocks worldwide. AIMSAMP Cap Reit is just another classic example. While prices remain high, the monies are getting out fast like avoidance of plague. This is possible because fools' monies are in, while smart monies are out.

The Mother of all Sell-offs for Risk-averse Assets of REITS, Trusts and Defensive Dividend Stocks: 11 March 2018, Sunday, 2.02pm Singapore Time

In the new normal, i.e. the economic cycle of rising rates, risk-averse passive-income assets will continue to be dumped off for other interest yielding assets offered by banks and insurance companies. Their yields will start to close up against REITS, Trusts and Defensive Stocks. Risk assets will have to be loaded up massively. This is the cycle we are in now. It is too bad that not too many people know what they are doing and how the international economies and financial markets actually work.

What is the most sane approach of wanting safety yet not sacrificing dividend yields now?
Bank Stocks which offer high dividend yields is the most sane alternative choice to be made. Smart Monies worldwide will have this line of thought. Besides loading risk assets such as cyclicals and commodities, they will go for banks along with this path of thought.

Additional Side Note:
A lot of old folks, retirees and passive incomers will end up in pity state under this cycle of new disruption. Life of safe and easy money does not go on indefinitely forever. The disruption is here, and just the start.

Under this kind of cycle, passive income assets will lose their shine because all other assets see their yields thrash yields from reits, trusts and defensive dividend stocks. The yields from all other asset classes close up their gap in yields, and in The Donovan Norfolk Theory of Relativity, reits, trusts and defensive dividend stocks will keep losing their shine in this gap close-up, and keep being in selling pressure mode.

No smart money sane enough will not sell these away. Greatest fools are those who still linger thoughts of passive money under the old asset classes in the new normal of the new disruption. With 10-20 years of passive dividend brainwashing, it is going to be hard for these group of people to change their cult-like beliefs until they lose so much, finally wake up and staring at all the losses which dividends will hardly make up for.

Attached is the technicals for HPH Trust.
All points are labelled on the Technical Chart itself.
If one is holding REITS, Trusts, and Defensive Dividend Stocks, such stocks will continually suffer strong selling pressure. Markets want risks and markets want cyclic stocks now in the current stage of the worldwide economic cycle of risk-taking. Markets do not want defensive dividend stocks nor reits nor safe dividend trusts in the current economic cycle of rising rates (refer to the theory of relativity which I had shared before in my Facebook Wall Tweets and in my discussion forum sharings).
